Cameron University’s 2024-25 theatre season wraps up with the world premiere of a devised theatre production created by students and faculty that centers on the theme “Our America.” The production takes place on April 17 through April 20 in the Studio Theatre. The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tickets purchased at the door are $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, members of the military and non-CU students. Cameron University students, faculty and staff receive one free admission with their CU I.D. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Box Office at 580-581-2346. Tickets can also be purchased in advance online at https://www.cameron.edu/art-music-and-theatre/events/buy-tickets (taxes and processing fees apply).

Devised theatre – frequently called collective creation – is a method of theatre-making in which the script originates from collaborative work by a performing ensemble. For this production, CU’s theatre majors, including those on the performance and technical tracks, have collaborated with instructor Jean Gerald Tartière to create an original work and features students’ original written work, collectively and thoughtfully crafted through improvisation, games and other activities.

Student performers include Alexzander Ernest, Rhiannon Pettigrew and Victor Rosario Quinones, Lawton; Natalie Small, Victoria Spruill, and Jaiden Standridge, Duncan; Gabriella Aguilar-Freeman, Oberkirch, Germany; Theo Cognet, El Paso, Texas; Skylar Edwards, Las Vegas, Nev.; Tamia Johnson, Graceville, Fla.; and Ryan Kaye, Greeley, Colo.

Pettigrew also serves as stage manager, with Spruill support as assistant stage manager. Abbey Kirbey, Lawton, assists the production as light and sound board operator.

Tartière serves as the production’s director, with assistant professor Ben Williams acting as technical director and scenic, sound and lighting designer. Susan Furtado serves as box office manager.

The production is recommended for mature audiences only and may contain content that some audience members may find objectionable.
