Celebrate the holiday season with festive tree lighting ceremonies hosted by Cameron University at both its Lawton and Duncan campuses. On Tuesday, December 3, festivities are scheduled at CU-Duncan beginning at 6 p.m. The next night, Wednesday, December 4, CU’s Lawton campus will come alive with community members, with the celebration beginning at 6 p.m. in Bentley Gardens. Both events are open to the public at no charge.
Attendees will receive a free Cameron commemorative tree ornament as long as supplies last, and Ole Kim will be on hand at both locations.
At the Lawton event, kids can stop by craft stations inside the McMahon Centennial Complex to create holiday-themed trinkets. New this year will be a sensory-friendly room for those who want to get in the holiday spirit in a less-stimulating environment. Revelers in Lawton can again enjoy a carriage ride, decorate holiday-themed cookies and enjoy hot cocoa, apple cider and eggnog. The event will also include a celebratory fireworks display.
Those enjoying the Duncan festivities can look forward to a mini-train ride, cookie decorating and festive beverages to quench any thirst.
“Cameron’s tree lighting ceremonies have been staples in the Lawton and Duncan communities,” says Jari Askins, CU president. “We look forward to seeing community members from southwest Oklahoma as we usher in the holiday season.”
Parking for the Lawton event is available at the intersection of S.W. University Drive and S.W. D Avenue.
CU-Duncan is located at 3100 W. Bois D’Arc Ave., with parking available adjacent to the building.
