Cameron’s Keith Vitense named ACS Fellow




Cameron University’s Dr. Keith Vitense, a professor emeritus who currently serves as the university’s EOO Officer/Title IX Co-Coordinator, has been named an ACS Fellow by the American Chemical Society. Vitense, who retired in June 2020 as a professor in the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Engineering, was a member of the CU faculty for more than 30 years.

The ACS Fellows Program recognizes and honors ACS members for outstanding achievements in and contributions to the science and the profession and for exemplary service to the Society.

Vitense was recognized for his commitment to the academic success of students and student-athletes and for decades of teaching, mentoring, and service at Cameron University. The designation also recognizes his dedication to championing the importance of ethics for professional chemists as well as for years of leadership at the local, regional and national levels of ACS governance. Among his national service to ACS are stints as chair of the Division of Professional Relations, the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws and

Committee on Ethics.
