In conjunction with the Stephens County Health Department, Cameron University-Duncan will host the District 8 Mobile Wellness Unit (MWU) on Tuesday, January 28. The MWU will provide health services to the public at no out-of-pocket cost from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CU-Duncan, located at 3100 W. Bois D’Arc Ave.
“We are happy to provide this service to residents of Stephens County,” says Dr. Dakota Kaus, director, CU-Duncan. “The Stephens County Health Department is dedicated to improving access to health care in area communities, and CU-Duncan is pleased to provide a location for the unit.”
The District 8 MWU offers wellness checks, minor illness treatment, immunizations for children and adults, STI/HIV screenings, sports physicals, mental health support, nutrition education, as well as health screenings for diabetes, cholesterol and more.
The unit, a self-contained clinic on wheels, is an extension of the Stephens County Health Department and is staffed with a team of nurses and a customer assistance representative.
All services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost, no appointment necessary; however, appointments may be made in advance by calling 580-252-0270.
In addition to services offered on the unit, MWU staff can provide resource referrals for diabetes management, maternal and prenatal health and early childhood development.
