CU Giving Day is your opportunity to proclaim “We Are CU”

How can you join the growing contingent of Cameron University supporters who proudly proclaim, “We are CU”? It’s simple: support the Cameron University Foundation’s third annual CU Giving Day, scheduled for Thursday, April 17. This 24-hour event serves as a rallying point for members of the Aggie community to show their support for Cameron University and its students. To participate and make a donation, please go to camerongivingday.com or call the Office of University Advancement at 580-581-2999.

The goal for this year’s CU Giving Day is to secure 200 donors. Contributions can be directed towards the Aggie Fund, the Cameron Aggie Response Fund for students, athletic teams, academic programs, scholarships or an area of the donor’s choice. Every gift, regardless of size, contributes to the continued success of Cameron University and enriches the experiences of students and programs.

“Cameron Giving Day is a celebration of our remarkable community,” says Julie Cunningham, director of alumni and development. “Through contributions to the Cameron University Foundation, donors are empowering the next generation of innovators and leaders. This generosity leaves a lasting impact on the CU community, benefiting future generations.”

Cunningham expressed enthusiasm for the 2025 event, adding, “Last year we had an amazing response to this initiative by 189 donors so this year we have increased our goal. I know we can do it!”

The Aggie Fund plays a critical role in ensuring that Cameron thrives. Every contribution — no matter the size — makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students. The fund helps ease the burden of tuition costs, empowers faculty to deliver exceptional educational experiences, enhances and upgrades campus facilities, and provides valuable, enriching learning opportunities.

The class gift — a cherished CU tradition — is an opportunity for members of this year’s graduating class to leave a meaningful legacy that reflects their pride as a Cameron Aggie and their dedication to making a positive, lasting impact on the world.

Donors can be part of an exciting new chapter by supporting the transformation of the Cameron Exchange building into the vibrant Todd and Cindy Sanner Alumni Center, a welcoming, venue for members of the Cameron University Alumni Association. The Sanner Center will be a place to celebrate, engage and inspire, offering a place for connection, celebration and inspiration.

By contributing to scholarships, donors are not just funding an education, they are making a powerful investment in the potential of bright, driven students. This support removes financial barriers, allowing CU students to pursue their aspirations and reach their full potential.

At Cameron University, athletics are more than just a tradition — they are the heart of our community. Contributions ensure that Aggie athletes have access to premier training, coaching and resources, helping them reach new levels of performance across all sports.

The 2025 CU Giving Day will offer five academic initiatives that will empower students with the skills, knowledge and experiences needed to thrive in an ever-evolving global workforce.

The Department of Sports and Exercise Science is seeking to raise funds to replace essential equipment in two labs: the BodPod, which is integral to CU’s Exercise Physiology and Exercise Prescription courses, and the FitMate, which supports multiple courses in the curriculum.

Support students in the Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences as they earn widely recognized IT and cybersecurity certifications that provide students with a competitive edge in the job market. These certifications enhance career prospects, earning potential and long-term mobility in the rapidly growing tech industry.

The Department of Chemistry, Physics and Engineering is seeking travel funds to support students in attending conferences that are critical for professional development and networking opportunities. Attending these events allows students to gain valuable out-of-the-classroom experiences that enhance academic growth and career prospects.

The establishment of the Teacher Education Makerspace Lab, a hands-on learning environment that will equip pre-service teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to foster innovation and critical thinking, is the goal of the Department of Education. The lab will be outfitted with cutting-edge STEM materials and technologies, enabling pre-service teachers to engage in project-based learning and develop effective teaching strategies.

Middle school students will benefit from the establishment of a summer forensic science camp where they will dive into DNA analysis, work with a simulated crime scene, collect data and learn DNA fingerprinting techniques. Led by Dr. Dana Lee, a genetics professor, this free camp will offer an invaluable opportunity to develop real-world skills in science and technology, setting the stage for the next generation of aspiring scientists.

Donors can also choose to direct their support to what matters most to them. Whether it’s supporting a specific academic program, honoring a cherished professor or helping enhance a particular area of the university, these donations play a vital role.

Thursday, April 17, is the time to proclaim, “We Are CU!”
