Dr. Krystal Brue Honored with 2025 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award




Cameron University’s Dr. Krystal Brue, professor of management and chair of the Department of Business, has been recognized as the recipient of the 2025 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), representing the organization’s Region 6 (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas). This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon educators who demonstrate outstanding teaching prowess within the academic realm.

Brue, acknowledged for her commitment to excellence in the classroom, will be celebrated alongside other regional awardees at the ACBSP Conference 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada, in June. She is also now in contention for ACBSP’s International Teaching Excellence Award, which will be announced at the conference.

“ACBSP’s awards committee has chosen well!” says President Jari Askins. “Dr. Krystal Brue’s strategic approach to student success, faculty mentoring and community impact is earmarked with creativity and innovation. Notable examples of programs she has implemented are the CU Banking Institute for financial professionals and the CU Money Smart Camp for elementary school students. Cameron University is proud that the ACBSP recognizes Dr. Brue’s excellence in teaching.”

After serving as an adjunct faculty member for 20 years, Brue joined the CU faculty as an assistant professor in July 2013. She was promoted to full professor in 2024 and has served as the chair of the Department of Business since June 2019. In August 2022, she was also named an assistant dean for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and the School of Arts and Science.

Brue is dedicated to improving student engagement and student retention while offering rigorous and valued curriculum. She has been recognized with the Faculty Award for Excellence in Service and has been inducted into the Cameron University Alumni Association’s Faculty Hall of Fame. As Assistant Dean of Outreach, she has played a vital role in the development and implementation for improved marketing, recruitment and student service strategies.

In addition to her service to the campus community, she is heavily involved in management and human resource-related initiatives throughout the region. Her certifications include SHRM Senior Certified Professional as designated by the Society of Human Resource Management and Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resources Certification Institute. She has sponsored student research, has provided pro bono HR assistance to numerous business and civic entities, and has served in leadership positions for state and regional HR organizations. Brue has also presented workshops at local, state, regional and national conferences and has published articles on leadership, work-life balance, harassment prevention and managing teams.
