The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will present the CU Percussion Ensemble in concert on Friday, October 27. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre and will also include the Pan Express, CU’s steel drum ensemble.

Under the direction of Dr. Jim Lambert, emeritus and adjunct professor of music, the percussion ensemble is made up of CU students, alumni and community members, including Edward Clark, Darnell Collins, Peter Macias, Nicolas Raso and Michael Richard, all of Lawton; and Kimberly Nyhart, Fletcher.
The concert will kick off with John Beck’s “Rhythmitis,” featuring Raso, who is a concurrently enrolled student from MacArthur High School. Raso will also be featured on solo xylophone on a ragtime favorite, George Hamilton Green’s “Dottie Dimples.” Nyhart will be featured on marimba, with additional accompaniment by Collins, Richard, Clark and Macias.
Pat Matheny’s “It’s Just Talk” and George Gershwin’s timeless “Fascinating Rhythm” will follow. The percussion ensemble will be joined by Doris Lambert and Danielle Angeloni on four-hands piano for another Gershwin classic, “Rhapsody in Blue.”
The Pan Express will close the concert with “Yellow Bird” and “Brazil.”
