The search for Cameron University’s next president has begun.
The Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University has named the 15-member search committee tasked with recommending candidates for Cameron’s top position.
“This committee represents a number of constituencies that have a vested interest in the university and the Lawton and Duncan communities,” said Regent Rick Braught of Duncan. “I believe it will do a great job in helping find the right person to lead Cameron into the future.”
The committee is chaired by David Madigan, president and CEO of Arvest Southwest Oklahoma and a McMahon Foundation trustee.
Other community members serving on the committee are Michael Brown, president of CDBL Professional Construction Services; Edward E. Hilliary Jr., co-CEO and president of Medicine Park Telephone Co.; Marilyn Hugon, vice president of Mack Energy and director of the McCasland Foundation; Jay Johnson, president and CEO of DRH Health; Lt. Col.(Ret.) Mark Woommavovah, president and CEO of the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma; and John Zelbst of the Zelbst, Holmes and Butler law firm.
Cameron University is represented on the search committee by education professor Dr. Ramona Hall; biology professor Dr. Michael Husak; geography professor Dr. Edris Montalvo; and business professor Dr. Aubree Walton, who also serves as an assistant dean in Cameron’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies. Also serving are student development director Dr. Jennifer Pruchnicki and university registrar Renee Roach. Nathan Weston, president of the CU Student Government Association, has also been appointed to the committee.
John M. McArthur retired on July 22 after serving 10 years as Cameron’s president. Jari Askins is providing leadership as interim president until a permanent leader is found.
Mackenzie Wilfong, J.D., executive secretary of the OU Board of Regents, will serve in an ex officio role as secretary of the search committee. Questions and applications may be submitted to her electronically at CUSearch@ou.edu. For best consideration, information should be provided by Oct. 1, 2024.
